A spin-off to “Ang Panday” by National Artist Carlo J. Caparas–Panday Kids–is set to hit primetime television next year.

Carlo J. Caparas‘ “Panday Kids” is coming on GMA Telebabad this 2010 and it’s topbilled by Jolina Magdangal, Polo Ravales, Buboy Villar, Lovi Poe, Jackie Rice, and JC de Vera.

This project sealed the rumor about the network transfer of Jolina Magdangal and JC de Vera to ABS-CBN as both of them are gearing up to this GMA primetime series.

This fantaserye is one of the programs lined-up by GMA for 2010. Exciting or not?

Glaiza de Castro is a bida-kontrabida in “Grazilda.”

Beginning September 13, GMA brings all the magic of the Cinderella story back to life with a modern twist of the untold story of the step sister Grazilda. An absorbing and provocative drama that promises to inspire and steal the televiewers’ heart away on the Telebabad block.

And to reprise the coveted-title role of Grazilda is no less than multitalented and ravishing actress Glaiza de Castro. Playing Glaiza’s prince charming in the series is GMA’s equally talented and prized leading man, Geoff Eigenmann. He plays the role of Eric, the handsome mortal who will become Grazilda’s knight in shining armor in the story. Geoff takes on a major role as he works side by side with Glaiza in this sweeping primetime offering.

The story opens from a fairy tale land called Fantasia. Grazilda, along with her step mom Matilda and step sister Anatalia, always makes Cinderella’s life miserable. She tries to disrupt Cinderella and Prince Charming’s wedding but through her sister’s kind-hearted Fairy God Mother, she will be banished to the mortal world.

Here, she meets her long-lost father, Fernando and ends up living with her evil step mother Veronne and mean step sisters Cindy and Tonette. They maltreat Grazilda and make her do demeaning work in the household.

Despite the cruelty of life bestowed upon her, Grazilda remains brave and steadfast in the hopes of staying close to her father. She also needs to get hold of the snow globe, the only link that can transport her back to Fantasia, which is now in Veronne’s possession.

From then on, Grazilda lives a life that of Cinderella’s. A reversal of fortune happens and the clear antagonist of the story turns into a modest protagonist.

How will her stay in the mortal world change the course of her life? Will she ever find her real-life Prince Charming? Will Grazilda also have her own Fairy God Mother who will protect her from the viciousness of her step mom and step sisters?

Former Kapamilya stars Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin and Claudine Barretto will join forces in upcoming Kapuso fantaserye.

“Iglot” is the working title of the fantasy series being offered by GMA-7 to Claudine Barretto. It’s about a child who found a giant egg that contains a magical creature inside.

Supporting Claudine in the fantaserye are former Kapamilya stars like her, Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin. Luis Alandy is also reported as one of the cast-members in the said series to be helmed by Gil Tejada.

The Kapuso network is said to be launching another child star, after Jillian Ward, who will be the main character in “Iglot.”

Contrary to reports, the new fantasy series is set for GMA’s Dramarama sa Hapon block and not Telebabad which means it’s not going to hit primetime television.

Perhaps this is going to be Claudine’s first hit program on GMA-7 since the Kapuso network dominates the daytime block not only in Mega Manila but also in the nationwide TV ratings as well.

GMA-7 has released the character posters and full trailer of the upcoming primetime series on GMA-7 “Iglot.”

“Iglot” is set to premiere on GMA Telebabad this Monday, August 29. The teleserye stars Claudine Barretto, Marvin Agustin, Jolina Magdangal, Luis Alandy, Patrick Garcia, Pauleen Luna and newcomer, Milkach Wynne Nacion.

Jolina and Mark exchanged “I do’s” in a private wedding ceremony in Tagaytay.

Jolina Magdangal and Rivermaya drummer Mark Escueta tied the knot on Monday, November 21, in a very private ceremony held at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay City.

Jolina’s wedding vow goes:

“Ikaw ang pinakamagandang regalo ni God. Sabi ko, sasabihin ko na lang kung anong nararamdaman ko para sa iyo. Lahat ng nandito, lahat ng in-invite natin dito, alam nila kung gaano kita kamahal. Pagpasensiyahan mo na kung minsan naghihintay ka ng limang oras dahil nasa banyo ako. Kung matangkad at mestiza lang ako, promise three minutes lang ako sa banyo. Pasensiya ka na kung minsan, ang daldal-daldal ko.”

Newlyweds Jolina Magdangal and Mark Escueta finally divulge exclusive details of their wedding in “I Do”, Times Two! The Jolina Magdangal-Mark Escueta Wedding Special this Sunday on GMA-7’s SNBO.

The hour-long special brings to television viewers a unique and inspiring love story between an actress who grew up before the public’s eyes, and a musician whose tracks helped define an entire generation.

The couple will recount the tedious five-month preparation that immediately began after Mark, the original drummer of Rivermaya, proposed to the multitalented actress-singer-host that is Jolina earlier this year.

They will talk about the experiences that led them to the decision of tying the knot, not once but twice, last November 19 and 21. The first being a church wedding witnessed by their family and closest relatives, and the second, a bohemian-inspired garden wedding, this time, with the addition of selected friends in and out of showbiz.

Jolina and Mark, as well as their families, will also share how both weddings came about, and name the people who became instrumental in the fulfillment of this very memorable occasion, trademarked in the couple’s personal style.

During her recent Live Chat session via GMA Network’s website GMANetwork.com, singer-actress and soon-to-be Protege mentor Jolina Magdangal revealed that her long-time “reel life” partner Marvin Agustin came close to becoming her boyfriend.

Jolina didn’t escape Marvin-related questions sent online by die-hard fans of the Marvin Agustin – Jolina Magdangal love team, which had its roots in their teenage days.

According to Jolina, among those who were paired with her in past projects, Marvin Agustin was the one who came closest to becoming her boyfriend. Although she clarified that they never became real-life lovers.

Jolina also revealed other male stars who made “paramdam” to her when she was younger. Among them were Victor Neri, Onemig Bondoc and Gio Alvarez.

When Jolina and boyfriend Mark Escueta got married in November 2011, Marvin Agustin — according to Jolina — was invited but he was not able to attend the ceremonies. Jolina until now does not know why Marvin didn’t attend her wedding. But if fans of their long-ago-defunct love team are thinking that the reason is because Marvin is still hurting, they are most probably wrong. Marvin and Jolina have long ago moved on from their love team.

Last Thursday, July 12, despite her leg injury Jolina Magdangal showed up at the studio of the GMA News TV public affairs show Personalan to tape two episodes for the following week.

Jolina hosted the said episodes with a splint on her left leg which was injured three days earlier when she slipped off a stage riser during a technical rehearsal for Party Pilipinas’ July 8 episode.

Towards the end of the second episode, Jolina was asked by the staff of the show to read a short spiel in honor of the late Comedy King Dolphy. Although Jolina successfully delivered her spiels without becoming too emotional, when the cameras stopped rolling, her emotions broke loose.

The singer-actress broke into tears while the show’s staff surrounded her to give comfort. Jolina explained, in an interview a few minutes later, that even if she had worked with Dolphy only once (in the movie “Home Along da Riber”), she has always been a fan of the late comedian.

She recalled that before she became a TV star, she frequently watched Dolphy’s shows in her family’s black-and-white TV set. Years later her dream of starring alongside the Comedy King in a movie came true when she was cast into “Home Along Da Riber.”

Jolina tearfully recalled how after her “emotional” father-daughter scene with Dolphy in the said film, she went to the bathroom and cried not only because she was moved by the scene but also because she was overwhelmed with joy.

Jolina said that she first learned about Dolphy’s passing through Twitter but didn’t believe the tweets until she got a confirmation from one of Dolphy’s sons, Director Eric Quizon.

“Kung nasaan siya ngayon, mas makakasayaw na siya, wala na siyang tubo o anything, wa na siyang mararamdamang sakit, at magpapatawa siya doon,” said Jolina.

“Hanggang sa huli idol ko siya,” she added.

Asked how she would describe Dolphy, Jolina said, “Tatay siya sa lahat ng bagay, mapa-showbiz man o hindi, tatay siya.”

After doing mostly light and oftentimes comedic roles, singer-host-actress Jolina Magdangal is shifting gears and is set to do heavy drama in GMA’s new primetime series “Mundo Mo’y Akin,” which replaced “Pahiram ng Sandali.”

“Yes, I’m ready,” replied Jolina when asked about how prepared she is for her pivotal role in the series.

Jolina will play the character of Zenaida “Aida” Carbonel, the keeper of the secret behind the real identities of the lead characters portrayed by Louise delos Reyes and new kapuso Lauren Young.

“Ngayong lang ako magkakaroon ng role na ganito kaya na-e-excite ako. Natutuwa rin ako dahil alam kong magagaling ang mga kasama ko,” said Jolina.

She explained that although she plays one of the antagonists in the story, her character is not as evil as the main kontrabidas.

“Naglalaro yung character ko sa pagiging kontrabida. Pero hindi ito ‘yung kontrabidang sobrang sama talaga, meron siyang pinanggagalingan pero mabait din naman yung character ko,” she said.

Jolina, who has not done another series since “My Daddy Dearest” (which ended in August 2012), is very excited with her new project especially because the role is new to her.

“Nung tinext pa lang sa akin ang tungkol sa project na ‘to, ang unang tanong ko kaagad ay kung paano ito naiiba sa mga naging roles ko before. Kasi ang tagal bago ako nagka-series ulit, yung huli ko ay yung ‘My Daddy Dearest’ at yun ay biglaan talaga kasi hindi naman talaga ako dapat yun, at saka yun medyo comedy yun e, ito drama talaga,” she shared.

In the series, Jolina will be working once again with two of her closest friends in the industry, Sunshine Dizon and Angelika dela Cruz, and an esteemed actress she had worked with back when she was still in the other network.

“Nakasama ko si Sunshine sa mga unang shows ko dito sa GMA. Si Angelika naman kaibigan ko ‘yan talaga. Sa totoo lang lahat ng cast ng show na ‘to nakasama ko na dati except for Alden, Louise and Lauren,” said Jolina.

“Sobrang saya ko nang malaman kong kasama dito si Tita Jane (Jaclyn Jose) kasi alam kong marami kaming pagku-kuwentuhan e. Nung time na nag-start kaming maging close nun ang dami naming bonding moments. Kaya ito catching up talaga nang bonggang-bongga,” she added.

Jolina admits that she is yet to get used to the very hectic schedule of doing a daily series.

“Pinaghahandaan ko talaga yung schedule dahil alam naman nating back to puyatan mode pag nasa series ka. Pino-program ko na yung saliri na masanay mapuyat ulit at kung may time umidlip ay umidlip na para makapagpahinga nang mabuti. Kasi ‘pag medyo napapahinga ka nang konti sa ganung klaseng schedule kailangan mong kundisyunin ulit ang sarili mo para masanay ka kahit papaano,” she said.

Although Jolina is going to have her hands full – she’s also co-hosting the GMA News TV public affairs show “Personalan” – she says she will find time to fulfil her duties as a wife to music producer Mark Escueta.

“Wala namang kaso sa kaniya [Jolina’s husband Mark Escueta]. Tuwing nababalitaan niyang meron akong bagong gagawin na-e-excite siya para sa akin. Bonus pa ‘pag talagang gusto ko yung ginagawa ko. Kahit nga yung mga raket lang masaya na siya para sa akin, eto pa kayang isang napakagandang project? Sine-celebrate namin yung mga ganito e,” she shared.

Jolina and Mark hope to finally build their love nest this year and so they are working doubly hard.

“Ang goal naman talaga namin ay bahay na sarili namin. Dati hanap kami nang hanap ng bahay at lupa pero parang hindi yata kami pang-bahay at lupa. Ngayon ang naisip namin ay bibili na lang kami ng lupa muna tapos tatayuan namin ng bahay. Nang mag-start ang 2013 nangyayari na yun. Okay na kami sa lupa so ngayon nandun na kami sa process ng pagwo-work para sa pagpapatayo ng bahay,” said Jolina.

Since their union in December 2011, Jolina and Mark have been praying for a child but so far their prayer hasn’t been answered. However, they are not in a rush.

“Kung ibigay, okay, kung hindi naman ay hindi kami made-depress kasi naniniwala kami pareho na kung ibibigay sa amin, ibibigay talaga,” Jolina said.

“At sa totoo lang walang pressure mula sa mga pamilya namin kasi alam nila na ine-enjoy muna namin ni Mark kung anuman ang meron kami ngayon at hindi ganoon kadali ‘pag nagpapatayo ka ng bahay tapos alam nila na may work kami pareho. Nangangamusta sila pero alam mong nangangamusta lang talaga at hindi nagbibigay ng pressure sa amin,” she added.

“Mundo Mo’y Akin” is set to premiere on March 18 (Monday) on GMA Telebabad, replacing “Pahiram ng Sandali.” Apart from Jolina, Angelika dela Cruz, Sunshine Dizon, Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes and Lauren Young also star in the series with Gabby Eigenmann and Jaclyn Jose. It is directed by Andoy Ranay (One True Love).

Actress-singer Jolina Magdangal–Escueta officially made her comeback as a Kapamilya after she inked a two-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN last Wednesday (October 29).

Her first project with the network is the TV series “Flordeliza,” where she will be reunited with her original onscreen love team partner Marvin Agustin, along with Desiree de Valle. During the contract signing, Jolina could not hide her elation over her new project.

“Whenever I’m on my way to tapings I feel giddy because of joy. It’s easy for me to adjust since I will be working with Marvin again and Direk Wenn Deramas, who happened to be my director in my last project with Star Cinema,” said Jolina.

Returning Kapamilya Jolina Magdangal-Escueta shares in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” airing this Thursday (November 13) that motherhood makes her a better actress as she is now able to dig deeper into more mature roles.

“I can now relate and effectively portray a mother in drama scenes. That is one of the changes that the audience will see,” the first-time mom says.

Jolina’s motherhood has also changed her perspective on her showbiz career.

“Now that I’m a mother, I carefully choose my projects. I became systematic when it comes to time management. My husband and I are hands-on parents. I always think about my time with my son whenever I have a new project,” she shares.

Jolina’s original on-screen partner in the ‘90s, Marvin Agustin, meanwhile, also shares in the “Tapatan Ni Tunying” episode that despite his hectic schedule in showbiz and in managing restaurant chains and other businesses, he always finds time for his twin sons.

“I always answer their calls because I worry a lot about them as a father. They’re not with me all the time, and they are the only ones who can get me to excuse myself from a meeting to answer their call,” shares Marvin.

After more than a decade, Jolina and Marvin will be reunited in TV series “Flordeliza,” which will premiere this November.

Beginning Monday (January 26), the Twitter-trending afternoon drama series “Flordeliza” starring Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin will air on a new time slot, 2:30PM, on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold block.

Meanwhile, the story’s plot thickens now that Florida (Jolina) resides with Crisanto (Marvin) and his legal wife, Elizabeth (Desiree del Valle).

Watch your favorite celebrities like you’ve never seen them before in ABS-CBN’s newest variety show “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” where they undergo a total transformation to take on a new identity as popular music icons and provide viewers with a concert-like entertainment experience.

International RnB star Billy Crawford will serve as host of the local version of the worldwide hit, which premieres on March 14 on ABS-CBN.

“We hope you‘ll love the performances of our colleagues in the industry. It’s just going to be a really fun show and we hope everyone will watch and enjoy it,” said Billy.

“This show is different because I get to play around with the people who are actually performing, the judges, and myself,” he added.

“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is licensed by Endemol, which also brought to Filipino audiences the country’s most successful reality and game shows such as “Pinoy Big Brother,” “Pinoy Fear Factor,” “1 vs 100,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.” The variety show has been adapted in 33 territories all over the world, including the USA and UK.

In the program, eight celebrity performers will be tasked to impersonate different local or international music icons. They will have to face the iconizer, which will reveal which music icon they will be assigned to impersonate the following week.

But the biggest and most exciting aspect of the competition is that they have to exactly copy the moves, appearance, and even the voice of their assigned music icons, regardless of gender or age. They will then perform live with a band, to be judged by their co-performers and a jury composed of respected personalities in the industry.

This season’s performers include RnB King and new Kapamilya Jay-R, 6CycleMind vocalist Tutti Caringal, indie actor Edgar Allan Guzman, showbiz royalty Maxene Magalona, acoustic singer Nyoy Volante, comedienne Melai Cantiveros, singer-performer Karla Estrada, and pop icon and actress Jolina Magdangal.

Each of them is expected to give out all the stops to exude believability and give superb performances, and must undergo an acting, dance, and vocal training, plus a complete make-up transformation to closely match the look and moves of the assigned music icon.

The performer who will receive the highest score for each week will be awarded a cash prize, half of which will go to his or her chosen charity.
The same set of performers will compete with one another for the entire season, until the four top-scorers fight for public votes and the grand prize in the finals.
